Hand Tool Woodworking Book

  • Norman Pirollo

My recent book explores hand tools and techniques on how to use them. Over the years, I shifted to using hand tools in my woodworking. I use machines to process wood, work then shifts to hand tools. I now enjoy a quiet, dust-free woodworking space. The HAND TOOL WOODWORKING (eBook,$15) introduces you to hand tool woodworking and its benefits.

I have been busy writing my latest book in the past weeks. It is dedicated to hand tools and techniques on how to use them. Over the years, I have shifted to using hand tools in my furniture making studio. Although I continue to use machines to process wood from rough to dressed form, the work shifts to hand tools soon afterwards. I now enjoy the new quiet, dust-free environment I work in and focus on my work without noisy distractions. The new HAND TOOL WOODWORKING  book describes the hand tools I regularly use in my furniture making. The workbench appliances or aids used in my woodworking are also presented. Instead of a general book cluttered with hand tools you might occasionally use, the emphasis here is to describe the tools and techniques used in my furniture making.

The book will hopefully introduce new and established woodworkers to the benefits of working with hand tools. Discover how hand tools will improve your woodworking! The 130 pg. (eBook) provides an introduction to common hand tools and the techniques to use them. Embrace a new quieter, dust-free form of woodworking. The type of hand tools described are the tools I use in my furniture making, in fact they are the same tools. Workbench techniques and bench appliances I have developed over the years to make woodworking more efficient are discussed. A frequent question for novice woodworkers is which hand tools to invest in. It can be confusing with the heavy marketing of tools, both hand and power tools. Each ad offers their tool as a solution to a problem. Fact is, you only need a small number of hand tools to get going. The traditional tools are presented in this book, tools that have been proven over centuries of woodworking and furniture making. The topics are listed below with emphasis on selecting and using chisels and hand planes. Three workbench accessories are introduced. I use these accessories extensively in my furniture making and have duplicates of each on my workbenches. The accessories are not complex and can easily made by a novice woodworker. They will be useful in all your future woodworking projects.
