This video series describes the design and build of a striking Krenov-inspired display cabinet. The contemporary styled cabinet features veneered sides and doors. Veneers are highly figured and can be substituted with alternative veneers. If you don't have access to a veneer press, the veneered sides and doors can be substituted with solid wood panels for a similar aesthetic. James Krenov is widely known for his classic cabinets on stand and the incredible attention to detail he brought to furniture making.

Krenov also brought a unique philosophy and vision to furniture making. A large part of this veneered display cabinet has been created using hand tools with some machinery is used in the initial wood preparation stage. Follow along as I describe the steps in creating a masterpiece cabinet on stand.
Includes display cabinet plans. Over 35 detailed illustrations (CAD) on display cabinet build included in Cabinet Build Class. Includes detailed photos and information. Knife hinge install sequence along with door and lip step by step sequence included. Comprehensive half-blind dovetail section with six lessons on creating the dovetailed drawers used in the display cabinet.
WOODWORKING: FROM DESIGN TO MAKING
$15 eBook included with purchase of class
A 6-part series on how to create drawers with half-blind dovetails. Half-blind dovetails are used to attach drawer fronts to drawer sides in each of the drawers in this display cabinet build. There exist alternative methods, but I find the half-blind dovetail excels in this function. It is both a mechanical and aesthetically pleasing form of joinery well-suited to drawer fronts. This skill is one you can use in all you future woodworking projects. The dovetail jig plan used in this process is available through WoodSkills.
A 3 part series of the process of creating a unique cabinet on stand. The sequence begins with wood selection and assembling of cabinet components. Techniques for case joinery (dowels) as well as drawer joinery (dovetails) are shown. Assembly of case with tambour door and detail work of the drawer pull are shown later in the video. The videos consist of three parts that progress from case construction to final detail work including build of the upper part of the stand.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Norman Pirollo began his furniture-making career by following a Cabinetmaking program at a local college. This education led to the launch of a successful small business creating high end jewelry boxes. Later, Norman sought a greater challenge and pursued his ambition of becoming a furniture maker. Norman then attended a furniture making school based on James Krenov philosophy and teachings. This education led to designing and creating furniture through Refined Edge Design. A woodworking educator role then followed. Today, Norman enjoys designing and making furniture as well as teaching woodworking techniques and skills.
Norman has written several books on the woodworking and furniture making topic as well as writing articles for magazines such as Fine Woodworking. His book, WOODWORKING: FROM DESIGN TO MAKING describes the unique furniture design and making process applied in his furniture studio. A recent book, Quiet Woodworking: In An Unquiet World, delves into Norman's embrace of hand tools in his woodworking and furniture making.
